Camp Pondo is blessed to partner with a licensed Physician to inform and review our health protocols to help ensure we’re providing the best possible care for our campers, their leaders, and our staff for Summer Camp 2021.
We use infrared thermometers to scan every incoming camper and leader for fever. If a camper or leader is found to have an elevated temperature, they are sensitively and lovingly guided to our Infirmary for further evaluation away from other campers and staff. We ask that leaders also check their students’ temperature before coming to Summer Camp to prevent someone having to be sent home.
If a student or leader has had any Coronavirus symptoms in the 14 days leading up to Summer Camp they will not be allowed to attend.
We will follow societal norms with regards to masks when Summer Camp 2021 rolls around. We do not anticipate mask mandates still being in place during Summer Camp 2021. If they are, we will make the decision toward the end of May as to our mask protocols for Summer Camp 2021.
Our cabins, dining facilities, and chapel facilities all allow for the most current guidelines for social distancing (3 feet). Additionally, windows will remain open in cabins for ventilation, as will doors and windows in the dining and chapel facility. And there will be outdoor dining options available at every meal. We are running Summer Camp 2021 at a limited capacity to allow for the current social distancing guidelines.
Camp Pondo will not require vaccination or proof of vaccination for staff or campers.
At Camp Pondo, we make high-percentage alcohol-based hand sanitizer available throughout our facilities. Additionally, our staff is trained to encourage every camper and leader to use hand sanitizer each time they enter and exit a building. This simple system keeps campers, leaders, and staff hands sanitized throughout the day.
Our Infirmary has isolation facilities for use in the unfortunate event that one or more campers or leaders contract an illness that might spread. Our Infirmary team employs specific quarantine protocols to ensure that illnesses are caught and contained quickly.
Every facility in use for Summer Camp is rigorously cleaned daily according to our disinfectant protocol. This process is something we intentionally train our staff on and one we oversee with a daily checklists and accountability. Bathrooms are sanitized and surfaces disinfected. Additionally, each camp session change means we take the opportunity to perform a deep and intensive sanitizing protocol.
We know that you want the best for your students, and we want them to have the best experience possible at Summer Camp. That’s why we are asking parents and youth leaders to do a temperature check on each participant on the day they are heading to camp. We will communicate with youth leaders and parents the protocols and documentation of the temperature check prior to their camp date.
Your safety and the safety of your students is our number one concern. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
